Early Fetal Echocardiography

Description: Dr. Reem Abu-Rustum and Mishella Perez, RDMS, RDCS present on Early Fetal Echocardiography. Their initial presentations highlight the impact of care, indications, accuracy, and technical considerations. Drs. Lisa Howley and Alfred Abuhamad give case presentations providing educational pearls for all, including sonographers, MFMs, obstetricians, and cardiologists alike. Early Fetal Echocardiography is an increasing interest in the widespread implementation of early obstetric anomaly screening of the fetal heart in the 1st and early 2nd trimester.

Description: Drs. Lindsay Freud and Rajesh Punn’s initial presentations highlight case-based management dilemmas and novel interventions.  Along with Drs. Lisa Hornberger, Jay Pruetz, and Wayne Tworetzky, they lead a lively discussion of strategies to manage these challenging patients in-utero and immediately post-delivery. This promises to be an important discussion of ways to improve our perinatal management of a highly complex defect.

Description: Darcie Logsdon, RN, BSN, CPN from the Children’s Hospital Colorado presents on Navigating the Challenges of Prenatal Palliative Care.  We discuss principles of palliative care and their application to prenatal programmatic development by hearing from Dr. Billie Winegard from Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Dr. Laila Mahmood from Children’s National Medical Center.

Genetic Testing after Fetal Diagnosis of CHD – Journal Club

Description: Drs. Moon-Grady and Hornberger lead a discussion of two articles on Genetic Testing after Fetal Diagnosis of CHD.  The articles discussed are available by clicking here and here.  An expert panel representing the fields of maternal fetal medicine, genetic counseling, and ethics join our fetal cardiologists. This is a very thought-provoking discussion on cutting edge testing and its appropriate use in prenatal diagnosis.

Fetal Tachyarrhythmias: Diagnosis and Management 

Dr. Edgar Jaeggi from University of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children is joined by Drs. Bettina Cuneo, Alfred Abuhamad, and Anita Moon-Grady to lead a panel discussion on tachyarrhythmia. Fetal Cardiac Care Presentations

On May 28, 2020, the Fetal Heart Society hosted its first Webinar via Zoom.  It was well-attended with over 150 participants.  The Webinar featured three case presentations from FHS members:
